On a lovely sunny afternoon, Leigh RFC had a great first hit-out ahead of the league season beginning next week. The team put a lot of what has been worked on over the last couple of months into practice, running in four tries against Seaford.
In a game played over four quarters, Leigh made frequent changes which in previous seasons would have caused disruption and result in a disjointed approach to the game but not so this afternoon; structure and strategy remained throughout which is exactly what games like this are organised for.
The match remained competitive throughout with Seaford only beginning to run away with it through the final 30 minutes.
Post-match, deserved plaudits were given to Jacques Wilkinson (forwards MOTM) and Hector Ashby on debut (backs MOTM). To a man, Leigh RFC can be proud of their performance as they prepare for the upcoming league season.
